I started taking portraits after graduating from
college. Working for a commercial lab for four years, I sharpened my
skills in printing and customer relations. In 1982, I began to pursue
my career as a portrait photographer, sharing the already established
business formed by my father.
My approach to a B/W portrait session is to spend an hour with
the subject, usually shooting between 30 to 45 exposures, working to capture
the right moment of expression.
Once the film is developed, A dozen of the best
images are chosen and made into sample proof prints for the customer to take home
to look over before deciding on the images they wish to have as finished
prints. In place of the hard copy proofs, one can choose to have the
negatives scanned and made into electronic digital proofs, sent via e-mail.
Prints fall into two categories: Mounted prints for framing
and glossy prints for publication.
The turn-around time for proofs is usually five working
days. Mounted prints are usually ready within five to seven working
days. Glossy prints are usually ready with two to three working days.
My approach to the digital portrait session is to spend an
hour with the subject, usually shooting between 60 to 75 exposures, again to
capture the right moment of expression.
Once the images are downloaded and processed in the
computer, A dozen of the best images are chosen and made into electronic
sample proofs, four to a single page, and e-mailed as PDF files to be viewed
in Acrobat Reader. I also provide electronic proof sheets of the
session.
The finished image falls into three categories: Mounted
archival prints for framing, unmounted or glossy prints for album or
publication and digital, a high resolution image for publication either delivered
by e-mail or provided onto a CD-ROM.
The turn-around time for viewing proofs is one or two days.
Mounted prints are usually ready within four to five working days. Unmounted
prints are usually ready within two to three working days and electronic
images are ready within one to two days.
