This picture looks just as alive today as it did when it was first taken. Why? Well, I think it must be the aura of the person that keeps this picture alive. Old Andy was a story himself. As a model, he was great. He was about 6' 5". I had to fold him up in a chair so that he could fit into the picture. I was especially conscious of his piercing eyes. In his day, Andy was a prime mover on campus. He also managed to make life miserable for President Sproul's secretary and several of the campus telephone operators. Andy considered Sproul as one of his students and junior to him. Anytime anything went wrong anywhere on campus, Andy would call Sproul's office to report it. Now Sproul had a big booming voice, but so did Andy. And Andy was sharp-tongued as well. What's interesting here is the scarab beetle. It was presented to him by the Egyptian government after he helped open up Tutankamen's tomb. Back then there was a story going around that everyone who went into the tomb would meet some horrible fate and die. Well, Andy, who was a very virile and somewhat ferocious man, acted very defiant about it --- and he did live a long time.
