After 33 years of distinguished service to California higher education, Keith
Sexton retired from his position as Statewide Dean of University Extension last
fall [1992] leaving a legacy of innovative programming and inter-campus
communications.
Sexton served as Statewide Dean in the Office of the UC
President for the past 20 years. During those years he fostered a spirit of
cooperation and information exchanged between the Extension divisions of the UC
campuses across the state, a spirit that has led to the high level of creative
program planning and development that continues throughout Extension today.
Taking
a leadership role in responding to the continuing education needs of
California adults over the past two decades, Sexton helped to develop
statewide certificate programs on some of the most critical issues of
our time --- hazardous materials management, alcohol and drug abuse
studies, and health care management --- issues that will confront
Californians for many years to come.
The UC Berkeley
Extension staff honors Dean Sexton, not only for his educational
leadership, but for his humanizing influence on our institution.
